Michael Sajbel (pronounced like “Bible” with an S) has written, produced and/or directed over a dozen feature films. He is also the author of two published books, with more on the way.
Michael’s most recent film, Florida Wild, will be released theatrically mid to late 2027. The film stars Lee Majors (Fall Guy, 6 Million Dollar Man), Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite), and a host of up-and-coming younger actors. A “western” set in Florida not long after the Civil War follows three brothers who seek out their fortune.
Michael’s most recently released film, The Mulligan, based on the Ken Blanchard & Wally Armstrong book of the same name, was exhibited theatrically April 2022. The film stars Eric Close (American Sniper, Nashville), Tanya Christianson (I Still Believe) and Pat Boone. Film is available in all formats.
Michael is perhaps best known for The Ultimate Gift, starring James Garner, Brian Dennehy and Abigail Breslin. Based on the novel by Jim Stovall.
He also directed One Night with The King, a faithful retelling of the Biblical story of Esther, starring Omar Sharif, John Rhys-Davies, Tiffany DuPont, John Noble and Peter O’Toole.
Michael’s first book, December 1974, A Memoir of a Very True Adventure Hitchhiking Home from College at a Very Specific Time in History, was published digitally in 2014, then in industry paperback marking the 50th anniversary of the true-life events. His second book, I Think I’m Goin’ Back, titled after a Carol King song, is a memoir of growing up in Wausau, Wisconsin.
He was born and raised in Wisconsin and is married to Susan Allen, MD (Anesthesiology) with three children. He attended UCLA where he was named to the Dean’s List all quarters and graduated summa cum laude. He divides his time between Wisconsin and Hollywood and currently has several films and series in development, including RADS, the story of the bombing of Sterling Hall in Madison in 1970.
